![]() ![]() If these were a darker color, a shag, or a level loop with much more pile, I probably wouldn't see a single seam. I used a level loop, light colored, cushion backed tile. (This could just be an impression I have and not reality.) I wonder if the tape is "pulling" the tiles back to where they were originally set. So, you have to do a little finagling to get them to where you want them. It's impossible to lay the tiles down without them getting a little stuck. I don't know if I initially set it down wrong or if they moved a bit after the install. There seems to be a few pieces that might not have stayed exactly where they were supposed to. I'm not confident that I did the best job, though. It's very time consuming! But, with the shape of our game room, which leads down halls and stuff, it just didn't seem possible to lay the tape down the way it was recommended at icarpetiles. is the carpet tape from Home depot or Lowes, as good as the tape sold at woodworking stores. My method was to install approximately 5 pieces of tape for each square, kind of drawing off of the flor method with dots. Let the painting tape set for 30 to 60 minutes before painting. With the stuff from the discount store, getting the film off is very difficult. Apply the tape onto the surface while pressing down firmly. With Shurtape, all that is necessary to remove the film from the back of the tape is to snag near a corner with a knife and lift the film. I found a roll of double-stick tape at a discount store (kinda like a dollar store but larger) that looks a lot like Shurtape, but with one very important difference. Also, fabric is resilient and can withstand catches without breaking the bond. The adhesive is very sticky, especially if the taped joint is compressed for a few minutes. The fact that it is fabric means that the tape itself is somewhat compressable which means that it can more readily conform to the irregular surfaces of the glue block and workpiece. ![]() Universal Tubs Stone Resin Bathtubs 13 in Bathroom Storage 13. Unfortunately, the other issue at Lowes is that no one who works there knows where anything is, so you are on your own to search for whatever you are looking for. Of course Lowes is like the supermarket - they move things around weekly so that you can never find what you are looking for - that way you are more likely to see something you didn't know you need until you actually see it. I bought a couple of rolls at Lowes - the first time it was on one of those 'appendage racks' added to the end of row in the floor covering department, but the next time I found it in with the other tapes and adhesives in the paint department.
